Computational Study of Hydrothermal Performance of Microchannel Heat Sink With Trefoil Shape Ribs

Traditional cooling technologies are now become inadequate for electronic chips due to size reduction and increase in generated heat flux. Microchannel sink (MCHS) is promising candidate its superior performance than competitors. The aim of this study investigate the hydrothermal MCHS with novel trefoil shape ribs. three configurations ribs are: MC-AWTR (all wall ribs), MC-SWTR (side MC-BWTR (base ribs). microchannel evaluated on basis thermal enhancement factor, resistance, transport efficiency entropy generation at Re=100-1000. results predict that addition walls smooth significantly improve cost pressure penalty. Nusselt number average transfer coefficient tends rise Reynolds while resistance reduces. Highest drop occurs configuration more obstruction fluid flow. has highest factor among all lowest large penalty Reynold number. So, overall shows any other considered rib configuration.
